Their career aspirations, ambitions, and the joy they feel from learning no longer have a place to reside. When conflicting parties use schools and other educational facilities as barracks, hideouts, or recruiting grounds, they deprive children of their right to education and expose them to the damaging effects of war 10. As a result, we must work together to protect education from attack in Northern Ethiopia. As King notes, education alone may not resolve the Tigray conflict 11, but it will certainly reduce the chances of young learners being killed or recruited by armed forces 12. It will also guarantee them their right to education as enshrined in the 1989 Convention on the Rights of the Child 13, bring peace 14, and stimulate economic growth within the country.
