Sokolov, alone.

After graduating from MGU in 1971, he moved to a hunting preserve in the Tver region of Russia, where he wrote while in isolation. Between Dog and Wolf was based off of the time he spent there, and a mystery that had occurred before his arrival: the previous game warden had drowned after shooting two of the residents' dogs.
