Kabyle populations

Title

Kabyle populations

Subject

Postcards of Kabyle women, modern day Kabyle movements

Description

Kabyle women were fetishized and made available to public consumption by items such as postcards, often with sexual undertones. This undermines the diversity and resilience of Algeria's Kabyle community, which has become a prominent voice for Berber and minority rights since the 1980s. In recent protests throughout Algeria and France's Algerian diaspora, the Kabyle flag has been prominently featured.
